ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Educational Programmes

Environmental education is Ecoagata´s philosophy and we are pioneers in environmental awareness, promoting the importance, the richness and diversity of our surrounding nature and cultural heritage, and of the different ecosystems in our region. We also highlight and point out the environmental problems and conflicts that affect our surroundings.

To that end, we devise and programme a series of unique activities and environmental actions and services (talks, conferences, workshops, itineraries, routes and tours, etc.) that try to communicate and report our environmental reality. We try to inform in the most dynamic and pleasant manner of the essence of our beautiful corner of the world and its characteristics.

Urban Sustainable Mobility Plan (PMUS) of the association of municipal authorities of Almanzora, East Coast and Low Andarax, and El Ejido

Sustainable mobility is a new concept that comes from the concept of Sustainable Development according to the Brundtland report “…to satisfy our needs without compromising the future generations to satisfy theirs”. To summarise that sentence we would say that sustainable mobility is necessary because:
Energy and environmental aspects: compliance with the Kyoto Protocol, reduction of energy consumption and pollution. (Transport system in Spain was the second cause of emissions of greenhouse gases in 2003 and Spain was also the first consumer of energy in 2004)
Social aspects: structure and social cohesion, accident rates, health control and system efficiency
Functional aspects: to implement optical system, an appropiate system for the local circumstances.
Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (PMUS)

A process of participatory managament that defines actions of sustainable mobility at municipal levels for periods of eight to ten years.

Objectives:
1.- To reduce traffic jams and resulting effects (noise, pollution, accidents)

2.- To promote the consum of renewable energy, decreasing non renewable energy consumption

3.- To reduce the length of travel

4.- To improve public transport

5.- To recover available public spaces

6.- To improve access conditions for residents

7.- To improve citizens´ health thanks to pollution and noise reduction and to promote healthier ways of transport (on foot and by bike)

8.- To improve urban environmental quality and enhance people´s lives.

Ecoagata provides a wide and complete range of services in Sustainable Mobility Plans.
